capture1We felt thrilled upon learning that we will take part of ‘’Tadarab’’, the Deloitte Middle East internship program. Friends since our early years at university, we were excited to get on this new journey together!

Although the main purpose of this internship was fulfilling a university requirement, we were able to gain real exposure to a professional corporate environment, learn how to communicate and work as a team with the support and guidance of our buddies, seniors, colleagues, and the HR team.

Aside from developing our professional skills, we were able to achieve personal growth while participating in the Digital Youth Program. Since Deloitte believes in “Making an impact that matters”, it is committed to helping communities through different CSR activities. This year’s target was to help the Syrian refugees through the Digital Youth Program.

We took the initiative to be part of this volunteer work in order to help the Syrian refugees in ‘‘SOS Khinshara’’. Our role was to raise awareness about the importance of education and help the children access e-learning programs through laptops provided by Deloitte. These e-learning courses aim to reinforce basic educational skills in a fun and productive way, since they were unable to continue their school education and cannot have access to such tools.

Once we arrived to our destination, the directors and teachers welcomed us. First, we gave the teachers an overview about the DYP and the ways in which e-learnings operate on laptops. Then, the children came into the room full of life, excitement and ready to learn. Each one of us was assigned to one student and with the help of teachers, we managed to guide them through this learning experience.

The best part about the visit was the emotional words of children expressing their feelings and feedback on this session. We were thrilled to see them expressing how happy they were about what they learned. Once we finished, the children sang a song for us as a way to thank us. We felt part of something special and the experience was truly rewarding!

This event is a great experience to give back to the community and makes a positive influence on the lives of underprivileged communities that are struggling to secure a decent future. In short, we were able to make an impact that matters on the lives of those who matter.
