19 June 2017 was the day I dived into the real professional world; It was the day I started my audit internship at Deloitte Beirut office.  Right from the beginning, I had a feeling that this internship would provide me with valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in the audit practice. Now that I have few more days left to complete my 8 weeks’ internship, I’m lucky to share with you my beautiful experience.

During the first day, we attended the “on boarding” session, where we were welcomed by the HR team, introduced to the Tadarab program, and the Deloitte culture. Ever since, I felt myself a member of the Deloitte family. We did a tour in the house among the departments and everyone was welcoming us. Following which, I met my “Buddy” who was assigned to support me during my internship. He was very friendly, positive, and was more than willing to deal with any problems or questions I had.

I began my professional trip with some e-learnings, which help interns and new joiners in getting to know more about Deloitte’s norms, conditions and values. Now that the first day was over, I was very excited to start the next one and dive deeper into the professional world. During the second day, everything was different. I was assigned for the first time to a client’s office. I really felt that Deloitte was giving me a huge opportunity to see the professional businesses and how it works.

My buddy was always nearby. He explained to me the different tasks that I was assigned to. I was able to meet, ask and take initiative in communicating directly with the client. Deloitte was the key to developing my professional skills as I was able to gain real exposure to the professional environment.

Apart from the professional audit environment, I was also assigned to join DIVE program, Deloitte’s International Virtual Experience, which was my chance to gain invaluable business experience and start building a worldwide network that would benefit me for a life time.

DIVE offered me the opportunity to participate in a group project working on a unique global challenge. With DIVE I had the opportunity to develop my communication and networking skills as I was exposed to working with other interns from other Deloitte offices across the globe. The type of project I was involved in along with the coaching and guidance I received from the DIVE coach enabled me to work in diverse and collaborative groups while also developing my individual leadership skills.

Finally, it feels great to be part of the actual audit engagement team! The most memorable part of my internship was when the team I worked with surprised me on my birthday; I felt like I was with my family not a work team.

I believe that every challenge is an opportunity to succeed and Deloitte is the best way to do it.
